8/29 Bargaining Update

Dear Local 88 Members,

Last Wednesday we met again with the management bargaining team in an effort to reach a contract settlement. We primarily discussed issues related to equity, and fair working conditions including the length of the probationary period, a fair and transparent hiring process, and addressing microaggressions and discrimination in the workplace. We hope that discussion will help cause a change in management’s position on these important issues but we need your help: Please see the actions listed below.

We will meet again with the management team on September 13 and we anticipate receiving a response on our wage and other major economic proposals at that meeting. We will also be spending a fair amount of time discussing our concerns and objections to the County’s health insurance proposal that includes increases in deductibles, co-pays, and employee premium share contributions. Additionally and we will be discussing what the County can do to encourage wellness and remove barriers that our members face related to wellness.
