Emilie Azorr Candidate Statement – HSD Executive Board Rep
Hello everyone! My name is Emilie Azorr (she/her) and I work for the Homeless Services Department (HSD) as a program specialist for the homeless family system of care. I am so proud to be the sole nominee for the HSD for exec board. I have worked for HSD for a year (previously in DCHS) and have a a background in human services work. My professional background is primarily in domestic and sexual violence work, but I have also worked with people with disabilities, and families and youth. I am Arab and White, queer, and have several disabilities. This would be my first position within the union.
I would love to be on the executive board for many reasons. I have always felt compelled and driven to service, and I believe it’s my time to step up and support our union. This is especially important to me in this challenging climate, and I feel very responsible for supporting my union members as they navigate how this climate impacts our work. As a proud Arab woman, I also feel passionately that there is SWANA/Arab representation in the union work we do. Additionally, our HSD staff deserve representation on the executive board and I hope to support my HSD staff through this position as their sole rep.
I am deeply committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access and have partnered with many fellow union members in our fight for justice. This has included supporting divestment efforts and the SWANA community, partnering with folks on educational presentations, and advocating for staff with disabilities. If selected for this role, I hope to bring that same commitment to justice and integrity to our union members at large, and fight for our rights as workers. Thank you for your consideration!

Hi, my name is Megan Seeger, and I am with ADVSD in the eligibility unit at the West branch. I have proudly served as a union steward for approximately three years, a role that has deepened my belief in our collective power and reinforced the value of our community—both the one we serve and the one we foster within our agency. I am committed to advocating for our shared interests and contributing to a supportive and effective work environment. I am eager to bring my experience and dedication to this role and continue to use my voice to assert our members in the best way I can. “Fight for the things you care about.
