I feel that I don’t have many opportunities to do training due to my heavy schedule, I thought this would be a good way to do a few and be more interactive with our members.

I think non-profit contractors are an underrepresented minority in our Union and a sector that is ripe for organizing. I think my over 15 years in non-profit work puts me in a great place to talk about the issues unique to the sector.

Since becoming active in our Union in 2023, I’ve sought out opportunities to better understand the structure of our Union and how the macro and micro work together. I had the opportunity to attend the AFSCME International convention in 2024 and see the impact that Council 75 can have while advocating for our interests with the International Union, and now I would like to attend our state AFSCME convention to gain a better understanding of the impact our locals can have while advocating for our local interests with Council 75.

Additionally, I am committed to sharing what I learn with my fellow members, ensuring that the knowledge gained at the convention benefits not just me, but our entire local.
